In El Demrdash Hospital, who can revive a child, give him back both his eyes sight and conscious?
LCHR received a complaint from a citizen called “Mr. Mohammed Salama" in which he said that his son “Abdullah” was hospitalized in El Demerdash Hospital because he needed an operation of laryngeal incision on April 20, 2009. Dr. Amira EL Orabi from nose, ear and larynx department did the operation and child was transferred to Intensive Care unit, which Dr. Orabi said that operation was successful and child can get out of ICU on Thursday April 30, 2009. On the same day, Dr. Fatma Mahmoud, ICU surgery section 5 wanted to install so-called “Centerline” for the child, and she gave him an over dose of an alternative anaesthetization drugs called (Drickm) and other (Dermikm) and claimed the child is under anesthesia, while the child got into a complete coma for a long time and needed the respirator for quiet some time.
After installation of the respirator, same Dr. Fatma deprived the child of the respirator, and it wasn’t till later when the father learned that the “centerline” that Dr. Fatma was attempting to install is not used for children but for the elderly, that is why child was bleeding while trying to install it by force to the child’s hip, bleeding occurred at the neck, and when she tried to force installation from the chest, the needle skipped to the heart muscle, which caused the child’s heart to stop for sometime. When the heart stopped Dr. Fatma frightened out of the room leaving the child in the ICU almost dead.
Nurses because of the parents supplications did some efforts to revive the child’s heart, which fortunately happened. The child’s parents then called for the deputy of the nose, ear and larynx department, who did a blood transfusion for the child and give him some medicine and said that the child will get back to consciousness in two hours, which never happened, unfortunately, two days later the child suffered from convulsions and his coma lasted 21 days, when the child came back to his conscious, the father was shocked to realize that his son can’t move at all, doesn’t see or hear them and totally unconscious.
According to this repeated negligence of Dr. Fatma Mahmoud, and transferred her from ICU to another department!
But Dr. Fatima who is responsible for the deterioration of the child’s health stole both the daily and medical reports of the child, but there where many nurses’ witnesses of those crimes and their names are: Nemat Abdel Samie, Dina Mohammed and other one called Fathia, they all were responsible for child care on that day.
The father of the child says "To whom can I present my complaint against those criminals crimes? How do I take my son to the hospital to help his breathe to get out with him blind, deaf and unconscious?"
The Center filed a complaint with the father of the child to officials, urging both HE Minister of Health and Director of Demerdash hospital to quickly intervene to protect the lives of children, ensure their rights to healthy growth and a decent life and to punish the criminal doctors who are responsible for the deterioration of this child’s health to guarantee respect of the patients rights to safe health care.
