Workers at Upper Egypt Mills in Sohag Demand their Rights

The LCHR has received dozens of complaints from employees of Sohag Upper Egypt Mills affected by the violation of their rights from the company's reluctance to pay their salaries and financial dues, in addition to the weakness of their salaries because of litigation and fines by the administration of the company in an attempt to flush them out.
These workers didn't receive their cash allowance and subsistence allowance since 1/4/1996 till now, although they are working morning, afternoon and evening shifts, and work on Fridays, public holidays and festivities and they don't see any results for their efforts and work, which lead to the distinction between them and their colleagues who work only morning shifts and get the same salary.
Despite the violation of the rights of these workers for many years in fair pay and decent living, but they did not think of complaining only after the prices went up, life is harsh and they can not cope with their meager salaries.
It should be noted that employees of the company confirm that the President of the Board of Directors appointed his relatives in violation of company law which prohibits the appointment of any individual who is related to one of the members of the Board of Directors.
The Center asserts that the practices of the management of Sohag Upper Egypt Mills violate the rights of workers in fair pay and equality with their peers of influence within the firm, also emphasizes that the management decisions violate the Labor Law and the Regulations of the company, prompting to prepare an appeal to overturn those decisions with the compensation of workers for the damage caused to them by the arbitrary policies of the management of the Mills Company. The Center presents the complaints of these workers to the Prime Minister and Minister of Manpower, demanding them to intervene and investigate the complaints of these workers. bind the company to pay the benefits of the workers out of respect for the texts of laws and regulations.
The Center calls upon the institutions of civil society to unite in solidarity with the workers of Sohag Mills Company to stop the mistreatment and abuse against their rights and ensure their right to decent and fair wages, safety and equality.
