Sabera El Masreya between the anvil of bullying and the hammer of neglect
Sabera is a simple woman who owns 4 carats of land inherited from her father inlaw after her husband died and left her and her 5 children to serve his father. After the death of her husband, she resumed the struggle to find food and raise her children by farming her land with the help of her neighbors who were impressed by her strength in facing life. Sabera pays the land installments to own it one day from the General Authority for Agrarian Reform. She lives with her 5 children in one room built on that piece of land.
Sabera was surprised one day by a person of influence trespassing on her land and demolishing the room in that land, burning the crops and filling the irrigation canals with dirt. So, she went to the police station and filed more than 8 reports against him, and also resorted to the Agricultural Administration, but to no avail, although the police inspected the area to prove the abuses.
It is surprising that the violator continued to use his power and influence to evict her and her children out of the land with the help of some thugs, who demolished her room and built two other rooms where they settled in. they also changed the features of the land and removed the remaining crops.
Sabera went to Helwan police station and filed report number 17385 for the year 2008 against the violator and told her story in tears because of the injustice, as she and her children are now living in the street without shelter or land. The police officer showed sympathy and sent her to the Agricultural Administration in Maadi to inspect the land. The Agricultural Administration prepared report number 3026/12122/2008 confirming Sabera's ownership of the land and the violator seized the land by force. But so far, the report was not sent to the police.
The Center is demanding the Prime Minister, the Minister of Agriculture and the Governor of Helwan to intervene and investigate these facts and events to return the stolen land to its rightful owner and punish the violator.
It also calls the civil society organizations to unite in solidarity with Sabera's demands and protect her rights to safe land possession, equality and safety.
