Denshal butcher uses the law to his advantage
The LCHR has received many complaints from people living in Denshal, Abu Nar, El-Sawaheen and Menyat Ateha – Behira. These people were complaining about travel agencies led by a person called "Abdel Majeed" that swindle young people to pay 45 thousand pounds and sign blank checks in order to receive legal travel opportunities to Greece.
As after receiving the money of these young people, he shipped them in a pickup truck to El-Manzala village in order to catch a boat to Greece, but the security forces chased all of them out of the village.
So, when the young men asked for their money back, he told them that he was going to deduct 10 thousand pounds each as transportation expenses. And when the young men refused, he threatened them with imprisonment using the blank checks they have signed.
The families of these young men fear that they will lose the money they have hardly gathered for their sons after selling their lands and homes, in addition to the imprisonment of their sons.
These people presented complaints to different officials, but nothing was done in this regard, as Abdul Majeed has influence and relationships with the officials in the governorate, and his son is a police officer who provides him with protection all the time.
The LCHR presents the complaints of these people to the Minister of the Interior and the Minister of Justice demanding them to arrest Abdul Majeed and investigate the corrupted policemen and officials involved in the matter, in order to punish them all and return the money and blank checks to their owners.
The LCHR also demands the members of the People's Assembly and the Consultative Council to widely investigate the issue of illegal immigration to treat the causes of this phenomenon and guarantee the people especially young people their rights to safety, adequate working opportunities and decent living conditions.
