In the era of the freedom of syndicates and democracy The punishing of syndicate members continues

The Land center for Human Rights received complaints from some union members, who are working with the World Steel company which confirms that the company management is punishing union members in violation of the law, as a reaction to the workers forming their first union in 2007. And, since that date the company's management continues to punish the union members and the workers who are close to them and who support them.
The management of the company transferred some members of the union committee and deprived them from receiving their danger allowance and their monthly incentive which the company pays to all its workers. The management also refused to file a work injury report or to compensate some members of the committee after a work injury inside the company. In addition to this the management of the company forces some of the union members to work the night shift only to weaken the position of the union members in front of workers. The management also favors some all the other workers who did not participate syndicate than those who did. The LCHR submits the complaints of the workers of the World Steel company to the Minister of Manpower and the Chairman of the Egyptian Union, demanding that they intervene to stop the abuse and persecution of the members of the union in order to ensure their rights to practice their union work which is stipulated in the law, the constitution, and the International Labor Organization conventions. The LCHR calls for all civil society institutions to unite in solidarity with the demands of the workers and to ensure the right to freedom of association and dignity for all workers living in Egypt.
