No one Protects Farmers Right to Land Possession
In the early fifties, the state distributed about 1000 feddans on the farmers of Monshat El Garayda. Among these beneficiaries was Mrs. Naesa Zeid Sallam, known in her village as El Masreya. In this distribution process, she has received 4 feddans and 7 stocks, and she has applied to buy this and according to law no. 3 for the year 1986. but in 1999, she and the rest of the farmers were surprised were surprised with the agrarian reform corporation issuing a decision to release their land for the favor of Serag El Din inheritors and transferred the land possession to these people instead of the farmers stating that this land is being given to its original owners "the inheritors" although the farmers have already owned some of this land and other farmers have paid parts of the land's price in order to own it, while the original owners deserve compensation from the Ministry of Agriculture instead of their land that was seized and distributed by the Ministry.
The LCHR sees that this release decision for the favor of the inheritors is illegal, because it doesn't apply on the land of Monshat El Garayda, as this land is not under custody. Also, the release decision doesn't clearly show the borders of the inheritors land, which makes them able to put their hands on any area of land.
The LCHR has presented a complaint for Mrs. Naesa Zeid Sallam demanding her right to own her land before the judicial committee in the agrarian reform corporation no. 589 for the year 2006, which have decided to discuss this matter in a session scheduled to be on 30/11/2006.
The LCHR has also presented the complaint to the Minister of Agriculture demanding him to investigate these events by forming an observation committee that will examine the documents and observe the land on the field in order to let the farmers own their lands and compensate the original owners for taking their lands because of the government's contradicting policies, in order to guarantee social safety in the countryside, and support farmers rights to safe land possession and decent living.
