A message from the people of Terat El Sawahel in Warrak to the Giza governor

The people of Warrak ask the Giza governor to pay a visit to Terat El Sawahel Street in front of the sewage station to see the mountains of trash and garbage piled in the street. The people say that the stench is unbearable and their children suffer from dyspnea and got asthma, they are gasping for fresh air. They say that the sewage station provides them with enough stenches already, and they got used to it, and ask "why does your men intentionally drive the garbage trucks into their street and throw the garbage there, turning it into a garbage dump?"
The people say "we have sent complaints to all the specialized authorities, but there was no response, because the officials live in home that do not have a view of our dirty street". The people say that the garbage has blocked the street, which made room for only one car to pass, considering that the street is about fifty meters wide. They say that this garbage dump is next to El Warrak Hospital, which is closed for about five years now because of the corruption of the local administration in the governorate, as the governorate employees have embezzled twenty million pounds when the hospital was being constructed, and closed down the hospital before it was ever to be opened, about 100 million pounds were spend to build and equip this hospital from the people's money. The people ask "why is this hospital still closed, and who is responsible for that?" The people say that they went with their complaints to the governor's office, and the employees there kicked them out.
This is a call from the people living in Terat El Sawahel Street to the Giza governor adjuring him to do something about this environmental pollution before it spreads out to the rest of the governorate.
The LCHR calls all CSOs to protect the Egyptian streets from such environmental violations to guarantee citizens right to living in a safe and clean environment.
