LCHR calls the Egyptian President to implements his electoral promises and amend the legislative structure to guarantee some rights for Egyptians
Governments have abandoned their responsibilities and duties locally and regionally. The project of the new Middle East is being built on the corpses of innocent citizens in the region. People in this region wait their turn to complete the American occupation project by reserving their place in the line of refugees and victims. These disastrous events happen because of the governmental absence, all what officials seek is keeping their seats.
The joke of democracy and elections lead to the creation of administrations that only understand the profit language, all they do is violate citizens rights, we are tired of hearing about the possible democratic change. We want the Egyptian President to grant some of the demands of his citizens, especially when these demands are included in his electoral program. Therefore, we ask for the following:
The cancellation of article no. 97 of labor law no. 12 for the year 2003, which excludes women working in the agricultural sector from its protection. This violates the Egyptian constitution in equality among citizens, and violates international covenants for human rights concerned with discrimination against women.
The cancellation of article no. 103 of labor law no. 12 for the year 2003, which excludes children working in the agricultural sector from its protection. This law practices discrimination against agrarian working children, it violates the Egyptian constitution, child law and international covenants for human rights.
The cancellation of law no. 96 for the year 1992, which was challenged for its unconstitutionality before the Supreme Constitutional Court, to issue a new law that organizes the relation between agrarian land owners and tenants, defining a minimum rental time limit of 5 years and a rental value suitable with the land yearly income, stop all kinds off seasonal rents, and the necessity to register the contract.
Give an area of 5 feddans of land and a house with full services to farmers who don't own land anymore after being evicted out of their lands because of the implementation of governmental policies, like privatization, in order to guarantee these farmers and their families the means for decent living.
The cancellation or tabulation of farmers debts to the Bank of Development and Agrarian Trust, who have been evicted out of their lands after implementing law no. 96 for the year 1992. The imprisonment of these farmers will lead to the destruction of their families, and will make the state carry more burdens by building new prisons and providing more food the hundreds of thousands of prisoners.
The cancellation of article no. 38 of law no. 124 for the year 1983 concerned with protecting the fishery wealth, because of its unconstitutionality, as this law leads to the confiscation of fishermen's nets and boats for small reasons, like forgetting the fishing license, which violate articles 32, 34, 36, 40. 64, 65, 66 and 67 of the constitution.
Add a text in the labor syndicate law no. 35 for the year 1975, to give the syndicate committee at any company the right to defend workers in these companies and represent these workers before the court and negotiate with the administration of their companies and factories.
Add a text in the labor syndicate law no. 35 for the year 1975, to give working children the right to enroll in labor syndicates starting from the age of 12, in order to defend the rights of more than 2 million working children.
Obligate the Ministry of Health not to cancel health insurance for children dropping out of schools, because the right to healthcare must be guaranteed for both educated and working children.
Exempting children from paying the education tolls in governmental schools, because the right to free education must be guaranteed for all citizens, in order to stop school drop outs and eliminate illiteracy.
LCHR demands the members of the Egyptian People's Assembly and CSOs to ask the President to grant these demands, in order to g8uarantee the rights of the marginalized groups in Egypt ,who represent 75% of the working force in Egypt, to a decent and safe life.
