Dear honourable Prime minister of Egypt
Is it of any justice to give excuses to the officials’ carelessness for killing our children?
The center has received with extreme grief the news of the death and the injury of more than 21 child and farmer from Demeshly village in Kom Hamadah in el Beherah district.
In the day of the 2nd of august 2004 and because of the official and intended carelessness in taking care of our children and protecting their right in living a decent life, a sum of 21 of our children have died and injured because the re weren’t any traffic supervision, and because of the states’ employees carelessness in Kom Hamadah region it witnesses continues yearly accidents which lead to the death of more children every year, and with this accident a new accident is added to the continues accidents record for falling children.
This accident led to the death of ten children and farm workers, and they are:
(Rasha Mahmoud Bdel A’al 17 years – Mabroukah el Safy Abo A’amer 18 years – Fadyah Abd el Ma’em el Abdal 15 years – Do’aa’a Mohamed Abo Thekra 15 years – Mohamed Hamadah Tawfeeq 18 years – Buhbuh Abd el Sattar el Serce 18 years – Reda Isma’eel Abbas 24 years – Abd el Fattah el Feqy Abd el Rahman 42 years – el Shahat Heseen Mohamed el Kurdy 30 years – Mabrouk Khalil 50 years)
And this accident has also caused the injury of 11 more children with dangerous wounds between broken bones, concussions, bleeding, broses and cuts, and they are:
(Saima’a Ibrahim Sa’eed 15 years – Gehan el Sayed Abd Allah 15years – Hasna’a Abd el Men’em el Teras 16years – Nadia Sayed Ahmad 14 years – Sabah Hamed Abd el Rahman 15 years – Safa’a Abo el Fotouh 15years – Samra’a Ibrahim Abd el Hameed 14 years – Maha Ibrahim Mustafa 11 years – Mabroukah Mabrouk Mohamed 15 years – Abd Allah Mabrouk el Wakeel 16 years – Noha Ibrahim Mustafa 12 years)
And it’s noteworthy to say that el Behera district is one of the most districts known for traffic and road accidents which lead to the death and injury of more than ten children each year especially from the ones working in the agricultural section, for instance Demeshly village in Kom el Hamadah has witnessed in November 2001 the death and injury of more than 35 child and farm worker from this village while they were going to Badr farms to work for daily wages.
And we don’t need to confirm that these children – deprived of all their rights and forced to work for daily wages to help their families and face the burdens of living – are victims of this regions officials neglect, and also of the governments’ for not putting the plans that protect our children’s rights in welfare and the proper life.
And the unfortunate thing is, with the continue of each accident we hear the same statements from the officials after the accident, as the governor of el Behera has made a decision to close all of the illegal openings leading to the railway roads in all of el Behera and made the mayors of the cities and villages responsible for carrying out this order.
And the minister of transportation has decided that the railway form should pay a sum of 2000 pounds to the families of each dead, and 5000 pounds to the families of each injured.
And we still hear the officials hallow excuses for the accident like saying: that the accident happened in an illegal ramp, or the opening that the driver went through was an illigal one, and that the families make their children work at a young age.
And we see that no matter how much these excuses were or who ever they were from they won’t bring back the flowers souls ‘’our children the futures’ generations’’ and they won’t stop the futures’ bleeding, because these excuses only aim to take away the burden of the responsibility of taking the lives of innocent children (the victims) and the grief and sorrow of their families – from the governments’ back.
Therefore the center sees that the our children’s lives and our futures’ flowers can not be compared with these hallow excuses no matter how dignified they were.
Because the illegal or unofficial opening wasn’t the reason for our children’s flowing blood on the roads, but the policies are the ones that hurt the children and interfere in their lives.
And it won’t be of any use to give orders and decisions after the death of innocent children, and millions of pounds won’t makeup for one look at their eyes from their poor parents.
Therefore the center requests the prime minister and the different ministries and all of those who are interested in protecting the children’s rights to work on creating mechanisms and policies and alternative ways and methods to stop this continues bleeding in the countryside and guarantee their right in life and care.
And from the centers’ side he has made a complaint (report) to the General prosecutor for the quick investigation of the accident and punishing the ones responsible for it.
And the center has also came forward with complaints to the officials, and on top of them is: the ministries chairman of the board – el Behera governor – the minister of transportation – the minister of education – the minister of health and the minister of labour, to find solutions that guarantee the children’s working rights in the countryside like protection, care and descent living and providing diffrant guarantees to limit the road accidents in the countryside as a right for the people to live in peace and in humane and normal conditions.
