LCHR calls for interference of the representative general and minister of agriculture to protect farmers in Sohag

 

Land Center for Human Rights receives complaint from farmers el Balabesh village, Dar el Salam district, Sohag province that suffer from threats of a person that alleges his possession of their lands rented from the institution of land reform that they used to cultivate for more than thirty years. Farmers assert that they are the beneficiaries of these plots according to law of land reform no. 127 of 1961.
The farmers narrate that this land was taken by the institution of land reform from Mr Boshera Seliem Botros with the virtue of law 127/1961. Then the institution distributed the land between those farmers that had no source of income but the land. Farmers mentioned that they pay off the annual rental regularly and they have the receipt of 2003.
The farmers completed that when the institution of land reform issued its decree on 16/1/1995 “article 6 of law 1986” about selling the land, thy presented purchase requests [no. 208629/208622/20826/20832/422782] on 16/7/1996 before the deadline determined by the institution.
On 24/6/1996, the institution made a minute for examining the land applying the third item of the institution book. After that, the complained farmers were surprised that a person called Shames el Dien Mohamed Ismaeel, who warned them to get out the land because he issued a primary selling contract from the institution and he palled with the institution in spite of the refusal of the judicial committees to examine his objection no. 577 of 1982. the farmers asserted that it is illegal to sell the land for anybody but farmers cultivating it.
Therefore, the center presented complaints before the representative general to interfere for stopping e threats of the possession alleger in addition to presenting complaints before the minister of agriculture to delete the illegal contract issued by the institution for the alleger because it violates the law in order to protect our families life and promoting their rights in living and working in peace.
