Families in Melahia Ali Gomaa village call for equality
Suddenly, the officials remember the basic needs of the dwellers in the countryside that they decide to execute projects for covering the sewerage (canals) protecting the families’ health and the environment. The families in Melahia Ali Gomaa were surprised that the canal, which is the source of bees, insects, diseases and bad smell would be recovered that the government began to achieve their dreams in quite pure life because of the new inhabitant in the village “the member of the local council of the village”. Because of the benefits of one person, the canal was recovered for one hundred-meter beginning with mid of the residential bloc violating the technical and geometrical procedures applied in other villages. It means depriving tens houses from enjoying with the projects’ benefits, moreover, hundreds of dwellers will suffer from garbage accumulation in front of their houses.
All these violations were a method for protecting the official house from the polluted canal although the mentioned house is built recently on a rich fertile arable land violating the decision of the military governor. Therefore, the families presented many complaints and grievances before the governor, the head of the local unit in Tasna village and the head of the local council in Baba village that resulted in deleting the project as a whole.
Gomaa Abdel Atti “one of the inhabitants” said, “we heard that there was a fund from the ministers’ council for improving the countryside. We were pleased when knew about covering the canal wishing to get rid of insects and bad smell, but we were surprised with lorries that emptied sand and dust in the middle of the canal. When we inquired about these strange actions, we were informed about the disaster that they would cover from that point to protect the house of the official (Maghraby Sotohey) from the pollution. Therefore, we presented our complaints before many offices asking for our rights. Then, the project was cancelled, is it fair, to prevent the village from getting benefits for one person. We ask for our right to be equal with other surrounding villages as Melahia Hassan Seliem, Melahia Hassan Saed and el Dabaaena”. The dwellers in Melahia Ali Gomaa don’t know who execute the project? They aren’t sure if it is a fund from the ministers’ council or it is Egyptian Philippic project?
The centre presented complaints to Beni Sweif governor and the local unit in Tansa village to ask about the project. The centre asks the members of the People’s Assembly and the local council to interfere to solve the families’ problems in Melahia Ali Gomaa.
