A discussion seminar about the problems of female farmers in El Balabeesh village - Sohag

It was held in El Balayeesh village, related to Dar El Salam station, at 10th of June 2004. It was about farmers suffering from new and various problems, like problems with the land ownership claimers. These people threatened a lot of farmers claiming that they owned their lands, while the farmers have been farming these lands for more than 30 years renting them from the agrarian reform. The farmers confirm that they have been benefiting from this land according to the law of the agrarian reform. The problem is that the area of the disputed land has been taken over by the institution of the agrarian reform, which distributed it to them. Everyone got the area that he put his hands on, and did not have any income source other than this land. When they knew that the institution of the agrarian reform would sell the lands to the people who put their hands on it, they presented application forms of buying in the legal defined dates by the agrarian reform.
An observation report has been made, but the farmers, instead of being informed by the agrarian reform to pay an advancement to own the land like other small farmers, were surprised with someone claiming that he owns the land. This person sent them a warning to evict this area of land, saying that he has signed a primary contract with the institution of the agrarian reform instead of them and made peace with the institution.
