Saint Yusuf peasants' association demanding land ownership scheme and receive the fertilizer
The Land Centre held a training meeting on 02/05/2011with the peasants of Saint Yusuf province at its headquarters and the participants agreed to form a union of independent farmers to defend their interests. 25 farmer participants have attended Karam Saber and Magdi Medany from The Land Centre managed the training day. During the first session, there was a discussion about the regulations and goals of the union Membership Terms and the participants agreed that the objectives of their union are as follows:
- The ownership of land for small-scale farmers.
- Delivery of cards peasant agricultural holdings to support their rights to fair marketing of their crops
- Delivery of farmers and squatters subsidized fertilizer and seed from the Ministry of Agriculture
Participants also agreed on the terms of membership and were as follows: -
- All those who earn their living from agriculture mainly.
- The ownership shall not exceed more than five acres.
- At least 18 years of age and not more than 65 years.
- The payer for membership fees provided that the board member or a farm leaders of the National Party dissolved.
At the second meeting the participants to the work plan to register the union and management activity during the coming period, especially their claim to receive fertilizers from the Ministry of Agriculture to be delivered to farmers villages of Saint Yusuf In this regard, the participants identified to meet peasantry Center on 10/05/2011 in Dar Abu Omran to view these demands on the peasant masses and the order campaign to receive subsidized fertilizer and handed over to small farmers and the prosecution of corrupt sector of agriculture for a homeland free from oppression for all its citizens to ensure the safety and decent living.
