Peasants of Qoutat Karun, Fayoum
are asking the General Attorney to prevent exposure to them in their lands
The Land Center for Human Rights held a meeting on Wednesday, 02/03/2011 with the village farmers of Qoutat Karun, Fayoum in Yusuf El sediq city, Fayoum. The meeting was attended by more than a hundred farmers after they have asked for the centre help to protect their right of the security of their land and stop the threat of the Wally family on them.
The meeting was attended by Karam Saber, Abdullah al-Ma'mun and Dalia Emara from The Land Centre.
The meeting discussed the legal status of peasants who put their hands on the ground since the decisions of the final capture in the sixties and the body of agrarian reform and then sell the land for them and received them some premium property but unfortunately, the peasants were surprised by the family of Youssef Wali, former minister in the former regime to expel farmers from their land using the corruption of the police department and the agrarian reform which forced farmers to sign waivers of lands that they own and also tortured, mistreated them and imprisoned them and their families without any charge.
The peasants returned to their owned lands after the revolution of January 25th and it is worthy mentioning that they had complained for the General Attorney to reopen the investigation with a former minister and lackeys of corruption and the reform of agricultural and domestic and prosecution also demanded to get the ownership of the land and not to oppose to them in the farming of their land to ensure their rights of freedom and social justice which is the slogan of the Egyptian revolution.
Thanks
To uncle Sayed El Rooby,
The farmer champion in the village
Who resisted the soldiers of Yousef Wally, and his corrupted regime
and died before seeing the peasants returning to their lands thanks to his struggle
