The land center message to the Egyptians authorities
The application of declaring Egypt's principles regarding the rights of Workers in the formation of their independent union is a guarantee of the integrity and renaissance of the country

The Land Centre held a meeting with the fishermen of Edco on 29/3/2011 attended by dozens of fishermen to discuss the problems of fishermen after the revolution of January 25. The fishermen said that the problems of the lake fishermen is in the trampling on their livelihood by the owners of large farms and seed robbers and the corruption of the fishery committee. Also the remnants of the National Party and the former regime still control the city and the lake. Some people complained about some things have become worse than before 25 January and the fishermen of the Lake in the city of Edco are suffering from numerous problems, especially concerning their rights in a fair wage, health and social care and the participants agreed to complete the struggle for the announcement of their independent union after the absence of the role of fishermen's associations of development. Unfortunately, the Ministry of Manpower so far refused to recognize the union papers (regulation and the basic system) and giving them the right of publicity despite the minister's as if we are still in Mubarak's fake system.
On the same day, The Land Centre held a meeting with the fishermen of Abu Khashaba in Kafr El-Sheikh which was attended by dozens of fishermen from the villages of Burj Moghaizel and The Green Island and the Arabs, and the fishermen's discussed their problems about the owners of fish cages violating the rights in the fishing waters of the river. Also they discussed the deteriorating economic and social conditions before and after the revolution of January 25. The fishermen stressed on the fact that their children had to travel by sea to Europe and exposure themselves to the risk of death. The fishermen agreed on completing the procedures for the registration of their independent union to enable the fishermen of receiving their land spaces adjacent to the village to be cultivated. The suggested that the union could grant five acres is through the cultivation for every fisherman or graduate and they called for stopping the looting and the ongoing corruption and the stealth of the country's wealth by the corrup.
The disturbing thing is that the director of the labor force in Kafr El-Sheikh, had threatened the representatives of the Independent Union of fishing Workers in the village of Abu Khashaba and the surrounding villages to stop their movements in order to improve the conditions of the small-scale fishermen after delivering the basic system, the Regulations and the objectives. He refused to hand over the publicizing letter of the union claiming that the Minister of Manpower has not issued any notified decisions regarding the delivery of the union declaration.
The fishermen o Edco and Motobas confirmed that the Minister of Manpower and personnel within his ministry must be committed to the Declaration of Principles, signed by Egypt as it is published in Al-Ahram newspaper on 13/3/2011, which recognizes the right to form independent trade unions to notify the interest on the bloods and freedoms of the Egyptians and to support their rights in the freedom of associations and to enable them to defend their interests against oppression, theft and looting.
The fishermen demand the representatives of the civil society organizations with the Egyptian participants in decision making to give advice and counseling for the necessity to activate the declaration of the principles of freedom of associations and the rights of workers and the actual application of founding unions by informing and ensure the rights to strike, social security, health care, raising the minimum wage, the right to have a decent job to develop the social security and the future of our guarded Egypt.
