Learning the human rights for a generation able to confront the future
Land center for Human Rights (LCHR) has held an open meeting in September
28/1998 with some pupils from the Holy Family school within the framework of
puplish and learn the values and culture of the human rights and relate it to
the Egyptian real life .This is based on the faith of the center in the
impotance and the role of the human rights in context of the educational process
.
The meeting was encluded many topics :
1- A breif
presentation about the Universal Announcement of the Human Rights and why the
talks have been increased about these rights in the last period, and what this
does mean to Egypt? ( Ahmed Seif AlEslam - a lawyer in the Legal Aid center).
2- The violations that
occur behind the fences of the prisons and the prisoners rights in the light of
the constitution and the international covenants for human rights ( Mohamed
Zarea - the Manager of the Prisoners Aid center ) .
3- Live experiences
from the achievements of LCHR and its role among the peasantry . ( Karam Saber -
Manager of LCHR ).
Those lectures were followed by open discussions with the students concentrated
on some important aspects of the problematics related to the movement of the
human rights in Egypt on the level of the civic , political , and economic
rights .
The meeting has also contributed in couraging the students to talk about how
they realize the importance of the human rights particularly the right to food ,
house , education , and work , as well as sheding a lights on their role in
asserting and supporting those rights in the practical real life .
LCHR in pleasure with this collaboration with the holy family school greets the
efforts of the responsible persons particularly in concerning of using a simple
and new mechanism enluded a personal promise signed by every student asserts
that he does participate with full free this year 98/99 to deal his classmates
as brothers and to beleive in that everyone has the right to a life standard
enought to guarantee the health and prosperty and to promise that he will try to
put those rights into effect .
LCHR in this concern appeals to the managers of the schools and the educational
directories as well as the Minister of Education to follow this school in order
to create an active strong generation free from the social diseases .Ageneration
able to meet the challenges of the future and look forword to the knowledges and
the diverse cultures for sponsoring all the rights stipulated in the
international conventions for human rights and child rights .
