The right of farmers in the establishment of independent cooperatives
The LCHR held a seminar in the village of Kafr El-Sheikh on 28/5/2010 attended by fifty peasants from the village with some local leaders and members of agricultural associations and community and staff quarters, health, education, irrigation and agriculture.
The meeting discussed the role of agricultural cooperation in improving the lives of farmers and agriculture, which must be done through a new law to ensure
• Work to strengthen the principle of independence, and the application of democratic governance as a method essential in managing the affairs of agricultural cooperatives.
• To provide the possibilities for agricultural cooperatives, providing various services to its members, a good way, and with the utmost efficiency and quality control.
• The need to legislate a new cooperative in accordance with the standards of international cooperative.
The meeting ended with the need for the Center to draft the terms of the new project and promote it in the countryside through a major campaign before the next parliamentary elections to ensure that the law was passed during the next session and to ensure the rights of peasants in the safety of their agriculture, their land and livelihoods
