On 26/3/2009, the LCHR has held a symposium in partnership with the Local Society Development Association in Shakshuk village – Fayoum. The meeting was attended by 30 women and 10 men who vary between association members and local workers.
The meeting was about the role of national associations in developing the conditions of rural women, especially their educational status by eliminating illiteracy among women, in addition to providing health services and first aid.
The meeting discussed how to raise the awareness of the local society about women's rights, the necessity of stopping violence against them and work on protecting small girls from all forms of abuse.
It also discussed the necessity of developing women's leadership skills to guarantee their participation in developing the local society.
These discussions were held in hope to produce a better world that is free of all sorts of discriminations, and built on understanding, solidarity, forgiveness and equality.
The participants agreed that it is necessary for the LCHR to hold several similar meetings and organize programs to be implemented with the the association members in the village.
