Towards a democratic law for the {national
labor}in Egypt
• In Sept. 24, 2000, LCHR held a symposium entitled “Towards a democratic law
for the {national labor} in Egypt”. It was attended by a considerable number of
NGOs members. It coincided with proving the unconstitutionality of the NGOs’ law
that was to be applied soon, and with declaring a new alternative law by the
government. The symposium aimed to reach recommendations that may contribute to
the up-coming law so that it expresses the advancements of the age, as well as
the ambitions of the NGOs. In addition, to make the new law in conformity with
the constitutions and the international covenants concerned with the human
rights. It is considered one of LCHR’s most important symposiums, as it touched
the problems that the {national labor} in Egypt faces.
