Rural women and the farming problems

On 18/5/2006, LCHR has held a symposium in Gizzaya village – Giza governorate about the problems of female farmers especially after the implementation of law no. 96 for the year 1992 and its negative effects on their conditions. The meeting has discussed several problems that female farmers face, such as: widows don't have social security, working women receive very low wages and they don't have legal protection. The participants have agreed to organize a campaign to raise the awareness of working women about their rights to health care and social security. They have also asked the LCHR to challenge the unconstitutionality of the labor low no. 12 that excludes working women from legal protection.
