The farmers of El Arba'a Bothour village … either they pay twice or they will be evicted

On 10/4/2006, the LCHR has held a symposium in El Arba'a Bothour village – Behira governorate. 50 farmers have attended the meeting; most of them were young men. The meeting has discussed the problems of the 18 villages in the land of El Nobareya company for seed production. The state has sold this company and the buyer has illegally taken over the lands of some villages and evicted farmers out of their lands, which they have bought from the state, and discussed the violations done by security forces to pressure the farmers to leave their lands. LCHR lawyers have explained to the farmers the legal status of this problem and the legal procedures that they must follow against the company. The farmers have agreed to commission the LCHR lawyers to represent them before the court in this regard.
