The Farmers clean the country from the tails of corruption and are claiming the ownership of agricultural lands
In the frame of the completion status of the center's programs and objectives to educate the peasants of their rights in a dignified, safe and organized agriculture in order to defend their interests and self-determination of their Social destiny, the Land Center for Human Rights held workshops in a number of villages in the provinces of Beheira and Kafr El Sheikh on Tuesday, 08/03/2011. The workshops aimed at working on defining the subject of peasant farmers union and its importance and its role in the treatment of various problems suffered by the Egyptian farmer at various levels and what it represents of particular importance in the coming period.
A group from The Land Center consisted of Karam Saber Director of the Centre, Abdullah al-Ma'mun ,Researcher in the center and Dalia Emara , workshops and seminars coordinator of the center, in a visit to a number of villages in the governorates of Kafr El-Sheikh and Beheira are:
Manshiet El Garaida village - Beyala - Kafr El-Sheikh
Mastaroh village - Sidi Salem city - Kafr El-Sheikh
El hamra El bahreya village - Abu Homos - Beheira
El hamra El qibleya village - Abu Homos - Beheira
The Garrar village - Abu Homos - Beheira
Kom El Noss village - Kafr Al-Dawar - Beheira
The three workshop were attended by the large number of farmers in the villages and this is a summary of what happened;
The first stop was in the Manshiet El Garaida village, a village from the villages of Kafr El-Sheikh of the Beyala city, which summed up their problem in that in 1952. The state issued the decisions of the seizure to the area of 1088 acres had been owned by the family of Serag El din which has been distributed to the peasants. About 25000 families benefit from them and the people took the lands and made payments and premiums as the price of the land until they were surprised in the seventies decision to release the land for the benefit of the old ownership claimers, but the people did not get out of the land and have resisted and they are using their land so far and therefore, the people are calling for providing them with the ownership of the land because it has been handed over to them through official government bodies and a number of premiums paid for the land reform as they cultivate the land and that they are entitled to reclaim its ownership.
And the villagers agreed on the organization of the Association for defending the rights of the peasants of Manshiet El Garaida village to manage their demands and their campaigns until the peasants' ownership of their land is preceded.
The seminar discussed the current situation in the countryside after the Revolution of January 25th and the role of citizens in the eradication of corruption lackeys scattered in the countryside in order to purify it from fear and oppression to become Egypt enjoy equality and homeland security.
Participants emphasized that a state of fear and oppression and state security have fallen after the revolution of January 25th by the rebels and the souls of the martyrs, which must complete their march to clean the country of the corrupt
The second leg was the Mastaroh El Burullus village, which lies on the northern border of the county and the trouble with this topic is that the village people rented an area of (400) acres from the land of Sedi Ghanem El Ash'ari El khairy divided among them and the land was handed to the people of that area and they became the owners but they were surprised by a number of thugs supported by the former governor of exposure to them and break into the ground and destroyed by the plants more than once and brought with him some of the equipment, farm machinery, they encroach on the parents with the aid of some administrative corrupt in the former regime and the people stood to work on a number of records to prove the violation of their rights.
But on 10/3/2009 the people were surprised by the outlaws with a fleet of equipment of the Arab Company for Land Reclamation and some are not holding the metal plates, and they broke into the land and destroyed the plants and trees while supported by some corrupt police officers and those involved with the organs of the governorate in stealing the territory of the people. By this way, the peasants didn't benefit from the land leased to them for more than a year in spite of paying the full rent to El Awqaaf body. You see the land barren in many spaces, including agriculture scattered and weak, in addition to what they and their families have suffered from intimidation thugs who use arms against the disarmed villagers.
The villagers agreed on forming a committee to organize the protests of farmers and protect their lands, which they put their hands on it and protect them from thugs and lackeys of the former regime. The participators in the meeting called for cleaning the country of corruption and lackeys of the system
Finally, the third leg in the province Beheira in El hamra El qibleya village - Abu Homos - Beheira, in which a number of residents of four villages met:
-El hamra El bahreya village - Abu Homos - Beheira
-El hamra El qibleya village - Abu Homos - Beheira
-The Garrar village - Abu Homos - Beheira
-Kom El Noss village - Kafr Al-Dawar - Beheira
This villages suffer from one problem which is that the territory of these villages were owned by a foreign Greek company which had been seized by the decision of the takeover in the fifties was the distribution of land to the people, and they were surprised in the seventies by the decision to release land for the benefit of the ownership claimers, but they did not leave their land and defend it and they are planted so far, but they do not have authorization documents of this land, although most of them have paid a premium price for land.
The meeting discussed the conditions of the peasants there, and how to encourage them to claim their rights in order to improve their living conditions, economic and social campaigns to recover their rights and protect their looted property and acquisitions.
The meetings also addressed the history of land ownership in Egypt, which does not exceed the 200-year-old which is since the era of Muhammad Ali. Before that, the land was owned by he who farmed it. So, the farmers have the right to own the land more than as they are the actual owners. They will protect farmland for future generations. The attendants also agreed on the need to change our way of thinking in the coming period and learn how to demand our rights ourselves through our independent organizations and our unions which should believe in that the earth is not the land of reform, Awqaaf or bodies of corrupt governments, but is the land of the farmer and he has the deserving right to own the land more than investors and thieves who looted the country and have taken acres at the cheapest prices. And the farmer is the giver of life has the right to own land that was cultivated or inhabited by him.
Accordingly, we should demand a set of basic demands, namely:
- The ownership of land for the peasants, whether a reclamation, endowments or property.
- Return what was paid in the form of rents or premiums of ownership or succession of state obsolete bodies.
- Bringing corrupt officials to court for the suffering of farmers at all levels for trial.
At the end, the center's researchers assured that rights not granted by any party, but obtained through struggle and that he who tries to get his right is entitled to keep it, therefore, we should not just sit idly and let others seek to return our rights but we must strive together and organize our actions and we demand our stolen rights.
And ad the peasants are the only category which has no representation, a speaker in their name, and did not have a union or party of their own embrace their issues of real and enjoy the gravity necessary to search for fast practical solutions to their problems.
So, it is a need to set up a committee for farmers to demand their rights and protect their acquirements in the first place.
The participants in the three villages agreed on the need to organize links to organizations that represent farmers and defend their interests and prosecute corrupt the countryside to try and regain the rights stolen, seized by the tails of the former regime and that in asserting the rights of farmers in the country free of oppression and corruption homeland ensure that all its citizens the right to a fair distribution of wealth and power
Glory to the Martyrs
Long live the struggle of the Egyptian people.
Long live the struggle of all producers in our country.
