Land thieves are still trading with our dreams
The Land Centre held a meeting on Saturday, 29 / 5 / 2011 with a number of farmers living on north coast of El Nasr Canal (Green Belt) of the New Borg El Arab city ,Alexandria where there are more than three thousand families, mostly of graduates who are exposed to the risks and threats of expulsion from the ground.
These farmers are squatters on an area of over 2000 acres and reclaimed them after the moor and made a request to the Ministry of Agriculture has purchased more than twenty years old and already approved by the Cabinet for them to own land and took them more than 3 installments peer ownership. And then were surprised by the announcement in the official newspapers (news - pyramids - Republic of the) on the sale of agricultural land in the area of green belt area of the new Borg El Arab.
The Central Committee was formed by the ministerial decision No. 182/1/1994 m and session No. 41 24/06/1995. This Committee identified the places of selling in the green belt area mentioned and the necessary determining maps were drawn with the selling prices by the relevant committee.
The Committee adopted the Real Estate Home Listing Authority No. 235 Dated: 03/12/1997 previews its decision to conduct a modern spaces to be sold to prove the seriousness and the value of the collection of twenty percent on the basis of prices, the session approved 41 of 24/06/1995.
The farmers once again applied to the purchase and paid 20% of the value of the land on 22 / 1 / 1995 with the observation that it has been collected for use on these areas since 1980 to calculate the treasury the City New Borg El Arab as well as fees for inspections and lifting areas and prices of maps and paintings by the Green Belt For these reasons mentioned they buy, reclamation and agriculture in various field crops and fruit trees as well as several years ago.
After many years has the City New Borg El Arab and New Urban Communities Authority to change the map of the work prior to the introduction of the agricultural area mentioned to the area of construction for buildings and roads which, as a prelude to be sold to the thieves of land and business men over the authority chairs of local authorities at the cheapest price.
What do these farmers and their families do after they reclaimed nearly two thousand acres, all on the shores of three canals on a U-shaped area? The State has to spend millions and billions of dollars to deliver water to these areas and these canals “El Nasr canal, Baheeg canal, and Branch 15” then the land thieves and traffickers come to acquire it to sell land and build resorts, amusement and an integrated modern city with golf courses and swimming pools!
And the Centre is wondering; don’t these true producing farmers who left the city and lived with their families in the desert without any services, even electricity as in the middle Ages have any rights in Egypt? However, they cultivate the land and produce such good things for us and walked every legitimate means to land titling fallow, which was turned by their efforts and their patience into a beautiful green land which blinded the eyes of thieves and businessmen to steal them and deny them and deprive us of the riches and transferred to the tourist resorts of the rich.
Are we still living in the looted Egypt even after the departure of the corrupted ruler? Is our country still a shelter for dogs and thieves? Are not these farmers citizens who have Egyptian ID cards which confirms that the Egyptian nationality?... Are the men of the former regime and its thieves still existing and intending to destroy our dreams and stealing them and turn them into easy money to be stolen?
The Land Centre held a meeting with farmers to support the establishment of a union for farmers in this region to organize themselves and announce their demands to own agricultural land and access to basic services such as electricity, water and sanitation to their homes.
Because we believe that they are Egyptians who deserve an Egyptian Government which protects their looted rights and supports their rights to have a decent and safe living.
