What are Voters Rights in Egypt?

The people in any country enjoy rights and freedoms according to the constitution and laws in these countries.
The Egyptian constitution was issued in 1971 defining freedoms and right in the second section and the public duties in the third section.
The constitution stated in clause no. 62 “citizens have the right to vote, nominate and express their opinions according to the law decisions, as their contribution in the public life is considered a national duty”
By this text, voting is a national duty that must be practiced by everyone, as it is a right guaranteed by the law and constitution.
Law no. 73 for the year 1956 has organized practicing political rights, it has defined these rights and the conditions that must apply on the voter. This law was amended by law no. 173 for the year 2005, as it has mentioned some of the conditions that must be applied on the voters to guarantee their right in participating in the electoral process, stating that every Egyptian in his/her 18 years of age have the right to practice their political rights, express their opinions in every referendum stated by the constitution and electing any of the following:
The President of the Republic.
Members of the People’s Council.
Members of the State Consultative Council.
Members of the Local Councils.
The conditions that must apply on the voter:
He must be at least 18 years old.
At least 5 years must have passed after obtaining the Egyptian nationality (for non-Egyptians).
He most be listed in the electing (voting) tables according to the law.
Temporary discharge (exemption) of practicing political rights:
The groups who are exempted of practicing this right are:
Officers or individuals of the main, subsidiary and additional military forces during their service period.
Officers or individuals of the police forces. during their service period.
Deprivation of practicing political rights:
The law has stated some cases that must be deprived of practicing political rights as follows:
Conviction in a felony.
The court has issued a decision against someone with confiscating his money. The deprivation will be for 5 years starting from the date of the court decision.
The court has issued an imprisonment decision against someone for the following crimes: “theft (robbery), swindle (fraud), check without an account, breach of trust, betrayal, bribery, forgery or using forged money, perjury, raping or dishonoring a woman, spoiling (corrupting) morals, vagrancy, escaping military service” unless the decision wasn’t executed.
The court has issued an imprisonment decision against someone for the crimes stated in clauses from 41 to 51 in this law unless the decision wasn’t executed.
An employee at the state or the public sector who was fired for immoral (dishonoring) reasons unless 5 years have passed after the firing date or a final decision was issued to cancel the firing decision or compensate him.
Stopping the practice of political rights:
The law stops the following people from practicing political right:
The people who are placed under guardianship or declared legally incompetent during the guardianship period.

The people who are mentally ill during their illness period.
The people who have declared their bankruptcy un less 5 years have passed from the bankruptcy declaration date.
Voting is a duty that must be fulfilled to make a better future for farmers and all Egyptians, and guarantee that the people’s council will issue laws that guarantee our rights in adequate working chances, safe possession, suitable housing, security, health and educational care and a decent life.
