Future of the workers' movement in Egypt

The report is in four parts:
The first part, is concerned with the rise of social protestation movements since the year 2000. The crisis of capitalist system in the country and the following deterioration in living conditions. The impact of the structural reform plans on Egyptian economy and on living conditions, and the relation between this impact and the different movements that followed.
The second part, deals with the different movements calling for a democratic change that started in 2005. Movements such as Kefaya, Judges' for Change, Journalists for Change and the declaration of the Egyptian Alliance for Change. It explains as well the different challenges faced by these movements, their strengths and their weaknesses.
The third part, deals with the workers' movements in 2007, their origin and their evolution over time. It reviews them since 2000, with a focus on the main ones (El-Mahlla and the 6th of April 2008 strike).
The fourth part, deals with the challenges of the workers' movements in Egypt. The evolution of protestation movements and how they affected the workers' movements.
The last section includes recommendations in an attempt to help the movements overcome the challenges weather internal or external.
