This report is issue No. ??? of LCHR's Economic & Social Rights series. The report starts with an introduction that shows that migration was known to man since the beginning of time, which was for several reasons, like natural disasters and wars.
The report also revealed that there were migrations related to Capitalism. Firstly, to discover new lands, which led to the destruction of ancient civilizations, like what happened in North America when white people eliminated all of those living in the land they found. Secondly, to get slaves especially from Africa to work as cheap labor.
Then the report asserts that international economic agreements were the main reason behind the continuation and deepening of the economic crisis and the development process in the third world countries. The report asserts that this has made migration to Europe a dream and a solution to the misery of millions in the third world countries. People migrated to Europe and America to live or work there as a result of imperialism.
The first section of the report undertakes the definition of illegal migration and its size, international covenants and the causes of illegal migration. In this section, the LCHR also asserts that the file of illegal migration will witness many developments in the upcoming short period. In this section, the report discussed the inner and outer elements behind migration. For example, the inner elements are like poverty, unemployment and overpopulation, and the outer elements are like the increasing demands in certain sectors and professions and better payments compared to the developing countries.
The second section of the report presents racism and illegal migration, showing a double-faced attitude by the European countries against workers from the South who represent an added value in these countries and not a burden as they claim.
The third section of the report presents illegal migration, which is a dream to young people in Egypt and also the cause of their demise, death or imprisonment. This section of the report also presents the international statistics of the number of young people who succeeded in migrating from Egypt to European countries in the last ten years. This section of the report also presents the motives and causes behind illegal migration from Egypt to European countries that varied between national, regional and international elements. This section of the report also presents the methods and means of illegal migration practiced by the young people of Egypt, indicating the mafias in Egypt coordinating with mafias outside Egypt are facilitating illegal migration for young people in Egypt. This section of the report also presents how Egyptian security forces inhumanely deal with the phenomena of illegal migration, especially with the young people migrating who are considered as victime to the wrong doing of the illegal migration mafias.
The report ends with a future view presented by the LCHR in hope to eliminate the phenomena illegal migration by eliminating its causes.
The report also emphasized the role of civil society organizations and human rights organizations to continuously monitor the violations against illegal migrants to stop these violations, solve their problems, treat the causes and amend the laws in accordance with migrants' rights stated in international covenants and treaties.
